Blissful cold

A Few days back I had a terrible cold, the house that was a little mess was threatening to grow into a bigger mess. And when someone like me has a cold , spotting a dusty corner just makes it worse ( it being the cold and the general irritation level which accompanies cold ), but that day I was very tired and decided to brave the mess and take it easy
On other such days when my cold threatens to get worse and the house messier, I take some extra effort and go into what I call whirlwind cleaning.. Just clean up everything that lets put this way could increase my irritation quotient in the coming days.
Now coming back to the day rather the evening after work at home .. To be more precise to the messy and unkempt kitchen where I was trying to help S make dinner , I, e me cuttting onions and he doing everything else that goes into 'making dinner' . All of a sudden I see frenzied activity from S. With my bleary eyes I see the sink being cleared , shined and dried ( trust me not a drop of water or moisture ) . The unkempt kitchen was transformed into what would make me call 'thatz mah kitchen' in delight.
It didnt stop there though, soon the other parts of the house underwent a similar transformation , the bedroom vaccumed , the living room all tidy and nice ..
I watched in wonder .. True wonder that this was the same man who could live in layers of dust and the untidiest environment without a care and now without and I mean it absolutely without any prodding or requesting or begging things can be this way ..
I was soo proud .. Swelling with pride would be kind of right yes.. proud of myself I felt like a potter who had moulded an ordinary lump of clay into something so truly breathtaking
Hmm bliss they say can be experienced even with a bad cold ( 'they' here means me )

baby baby

Its a beautiful day today ! My god child arrived today morning .. a beautiful baby girl.. it will be some months before I get to see her .. am just waiting to see her

Absence and holidays

Travels and more Last 2 months have been very busy .. Or so I would like everybody including myself to think.. Lets see what made it busy
1. deadlines at work.. Was hectic and well thats about it
2. we went to belgium.. Beautiful laces i tell you.. And not to forget the sea food.. Mussels and prawns.. Prawns and mussels , I liked the place but dont want to live there
3. went to vienna, spent a nice lazy weekend walked around the city .. It was soo hot... Met up with some friends from years gone by
4. went to austria .. on the hills for a week .. Ate slept and walked , swam ate slept, talked loong time since the family got together mom sibling and siblings family and us ... Was too short though
5. got promoted .. This was the best .. Will be a godmother to my niece who will arrive in october .. Am I excited or am I excited
6. making plans to go to barcelona.. Well that counts for busy too
7. Other than that .. Attended barbeque parties .. Yumm yumm are 2 words to describe them all..
8. watched movies
9 got lazier
10. Now mom is here for 3 weeks and am busy being lazy again .. today morning had lovely fluffy idlis .. wow :)

Its football time!

Yesterday was magical for me.. I got the scores right for 3 out of the four football matches
Am I proud ? .. You bet .. I am strutting around office with ' football ? I know it all' look.
And .. I loved the brazil game .. Jus loved it

They and the baby

The conversations went somewhat like this .. and these were just a sample..

Rel : So what is your plan,
Me : Oh I plan to go to goa , shop and blablah blah
Rel: but what about the baby
Me baby what baby ?
rel: when do u plan to have one.. Isnt it late .. I don’t think you should delay that
Me: ( realisation dawns that this was not exactly going the way I thot or wished..) oh ! Okai

Before leaving my MIL's place
MIL: when would you be coming next time
Me: dunno , maybe a year or more
MIL: next time come on a long long holiday,
Me: sure
MIL: (realising I was not getting the drift ) come back before next year on an extended vacation.
Me: that might be difficult
MIL : Bring the good news along
Me : all grins .. ( note to myself : reminder in the calender to get good news along)

Mom
Mom: I think its about time for a baby.. What do u think
Me: (grinning ) yes I agree hehe
Mom: I am not getting any younger.
Me: My eyebrows hitting the ceiling, Does grandmoms age also count ???
Mom: (with exaggerated patience which one might show to a really dull child) Who is going to look after you and the baby..
Me: oh oh. That way .. And then big grins

Long time ex-collegue
Col: Hi how are you ..sucha long time since we met
Me: Aww, your son is soo cute
Col: a little indignant, what about you don’t you think you should have one now
Me: you are absolutely right , I should
Col : that’s what you have been saying for years
Me : ( looking down ).. Is it ?

Friend from college:
She: So.. Are u planning kids at all ?? Last year u said , u will come along with a baby
Me: Did I ? ( tried to give my most innocent look)
She: (getting all serious) no really .. Do decide, next time when u come, u Must have a baby
Me: (trying to match the seriousness and suppressing that big grin from breaking out) yeah ..sure next year..
She: hmmph! Its really time (goes into a long lecture about why and when)
Me: (just then a huge idea lights up in my head) Hey what about u ? When u planning the next one?
She : very silent and non commital
Me: I think you should seriously plan .. Its time now don’t u think ( Bingo ! And a high five to myself)
She: yes we are thinking
Me: don’t think much .. Just go ahead its about time

Finally back

I am back .. Actually a long time back
Have been so full of ideas to write about this and that .. That eventually there is nothing more to write..
The first two weeks in May, I had what I call a vacation withdrawl syndrome (VWS), the work was least interesting , the office drab, the sound of the language spoken in this part of the world guttural
I just wanted to sit at home , go for movies , take long walks , swim long hours and eat lovely food (cooked by someone else that is ..)
Somehow this fantasy just remained that .. A fantasy and thats why the VWS
A couple of deadlines at work shook me awake and bingo.. The love for work is back , I started clocking long hours and it feels good :)
A week back if somebody had told me that, I would have thought ..' what a loser' .. But now the zest for reality is back
Around me is rain and sunshine alternating beautifully , and all around, it is lush lush lush green
Will try and update about my lovely trip to India and how everyone ... almost absolutely everybody I met, feels that this is the right time for me to procreate!

I smell spring .. I feel it in the air.

The transition from winter to spring is one of the wonders I have come to love.
The budding leaves and blossoms, the warm air in short the coming to life
Always brings joy to my heart , fills me with hope and a yearning to live a fuller life
Makes me want to embrace the whole world, melt into it , flow with it..
Spring means hearing the birds in the morning..
It means warm sun rays on your eyes when u wake up
The green green grass contrasted with the choclate brown earth
Cheer in the air
Girls in short shirts and shorter tops
Not to forget the joy in their faces to be able to discard the heavy winter jackets
It means kids playing football and adults too
It means cyclists on road with their kids buggys behind
It means long walks to the fields
It means tulips all around
It means cycling to the forest (finally ! After autumn)
It means travel on weekends
It means no heaters! And wide open windows
It means barbeque and lazying by the river side
It means outdoor cafes and restaurants
It means open biergartens!
It means loads of beer ..mmm
And lots and lots more
