They and the baby

The conversations went somewhat like this .. and these were just a sample..

Some relatives
Rel : So what is your plan,
Me : Oh I plan to go to goa , shop and blablah blah
Rel: but what about the baby
Me baby what baby ?
rel: when do u plan to have one.. Isnt it late .. I don’t think you should delay that
Me: ( realisation dawns that this was not exactly going the way I thot or wished..) oh ! Okai

Before leaving my MIL's place
MIL: when would you be coming next time
Me: dunno , maybe a year or more
MIL: next time come on a long long holiday,
Me: sure
MIL: (realising I was not getting the drift ) come back before next year on an extended vacation.
Me: that might be difficult
MIL : Bring the good news along
Me : all grins .. ( note to myself : reminder in the calender to get good news along)

Mom
Mom: I think its about time for a baby.. What do u think
Me: (grinning ) yes I agree hehe
Mom: I am not getting any younger.
Me: My eyebrows hitting the ceiling, Does grandmoms age also count ???
Mom: (with exaggerated patience which one might show to a really dull child) Who is going to look after you and the baby..
Me: oh oh. That way .. And then big grins

Long time ex-collegue
Col: Hi how are you ..sucha long time since we met
Me: Aww, your son is soo cute
Col: a little indignant, what about you don’t you think you should have one now
Me: you are absolutely right , I should
Col : that’s what you have been saying for years
Me : ( looking down ).. Is it ?

Friend from college:
She: So.. Are u planning kids at all ?? Last year u said , u will come along with a baby
Me: Did I ? ( tried to give my most innocent look)
She: (getting all serious) no really .. Do decide, next time when u come, u Must have a baby
Me: (trying to match the seriousness and suppressing that big grin from breaking out) yeah ..sure next year..
She: hmmph! Its really time (goes into a long lecture about why and when)
Me: (just then a huge idea lights up in my head) Hey what about u ? When u planning the next one?
She : very silent and non commital
Me: I think you should seriously plan .. Its time now don’t u think ( Bingo ! And a high five to myself)
She: yes we are thinking
Me: don’t think much .. Just go ahead its about time

Finally back

I am back .. Actually a long time back
Have been so full of ideas to write about this and that .. That eventually there is nothing more to write..
The first two weeks in May, I had what I call a vacation withdrawl syndrome (VWS), the work was least interesting , the office drab, the sound of the language spoken in this part of the world guttural
I just wanted to sit at home , go for movies , take long walks , swim long hours and eat lovely food (cooked by someone else that is ..)
Somehow this fantasy just remained that .. A fantasy and thats why the VWS
A couple of deadlines at work shook me awake and bingo.. The love for work is back , I started clocking long hours and it feels good :)
A week back if somebody had told me that, I would have thought ..' what a loser' .. But now the zest for reality is back
Around me is rain and sunshine alternating beautifully , and all around, it is lush lush lush green
Will try and update about my lovely trip to India and how everyone ... almost absolutely everybody I met, feels that this is the right time for me to procreate!
