Some months ago, when I moved to a new office desk , I decided to end the Spartan look, my desk and its environs had..
So I eagerly adopted a crisp and sparkly bamboo plant.. it delighted me no ends to look at it .. I think I watered it diligently for a while, and then the inevitable happened , I went on a vacation, watered the poor wee plant just a tad extra and when I came back , its soul was gone a missing..
well I tried to nurture it back but soon buried it amidst the disapproving looks and tut tut from my team mates .. and then with great courage, ( coz each time I mentioned a plant for my office, at home.. I got ‘ the plant murderer goes on prowl again’ look) I got another one .. this time ‘sturdy’ ( so described the label) and at the same time a looker of a plant.. and slipped it on my desk when the rest of my office mates were not looking ( sigh !.. to sneak your own plant on your own desk and yet feel guilty about it was a new one for me) ..
This one stood pretty and green for full 2 weeks till the other inevitable happened, I fell ill followed by a long weekend and this sturdy one became a lil pale and webby ?? ( well I saw a few webs on it) thought oh well spiders!!
Now, I am not anti spiders so I just cleaned out the webs and watered sturdy .. but sturdy was still pale with its leaves turning yellow and dropping at the drop of a hat or at the drop of anything and everything.. then the webs were back in a day .. persistent spider ? ( now I always thot that spiders do not destroy plants ) so on a closer inspection and a fair amount of googling later, I realized that these webs were being happily spun by a colony of plant beasts, yup, that’s what they were, tiny but bestial .. who else in the whole wide world could sap up the sap of my sturdy..
Well the rest they say is history.. got a bio ( need to be environmentally correct ) plant beasticide and 3 weeks later ta da new shiny budding leaves ..
Sturdy is sturdy again .. yippee .. and nowadays I move around with this ‘I got a green Thumb’ look .
